COOPERSBURG – In his continuing effort to help constituents combat identity theft, Rep. Justin Simmons (R-Lehigh/Montgomery/Northampton) is hosting a paper shredding event on Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to noon. The free service will be available in the parking lot of Simmons’ district office in Coopersburg, located at 21 N. Main St., Unit 9.
“Identity theft is a fast-growing crime, and our event gives residents a safe and secure way to destroy documents containing their personal and financial data,” said Simmons. “Once that information is used fraudulently, it can take time and money to restore a person’s good financial standing.”
This event is for residents only, no businesses please. Residents can bring documents that contain sensitive information, such as Social Security numbers, medical data or bank account numbers, to be shredded at no cost to them. The limit per vehicle is five 30-gallon garbage bags or copy paper boxes of paperwork. The service is provided by Richter Mobile Shredding of Souderton.
For more information, call Simmons’ office at (610) 282-0160.
