Simmons Offers Free Assistance to Area Veterans on Jan. 8

COOPERSBURG – State Rep. Justin Simmons (R-Lehigh/Montgomery/Northampton) would like to remind area veterans and their families that free veteran assistance will be provided at his district office in Coopersburg on Friday, Jan. 8. No appointment is necessary.

An American Legion service officer will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to answer questions about veteran benefits and help file claims. Some of the issues the officer can provide assistance with include:

• Compensation and pension claims.
• Education benefits.
• Enrollment in the VA health care system.
• Burial and survivor benefits.
• State benefits.
• Obtaining military personnel and medical records.
