Simmons Partners with Local Agencies to Collect School Supplies
COOPERSBURG – Rep. Justin Simmons (R-Lehigh/Montgomery/Northampton) today announced that his office is partnering with two local agencies to collect school supplies for distribution to needy students in the 131st Legislative District.

Simmons’ district offices in Coopersburg, Emmaus, and Red Hill will serve as drop-off locations for the donated supplies, which will then be distributed by the agencies. Volunteers from the Saucon Creek YMCA project, an initiative of the Greater Valley YMCA, will deliver the supplies to area school districts, and the Open Link will distribute supplies to students it serves in the Upper Perkiomen School District.

Items that are needed include tissues, glue sticks, hand sanitizers, pocket folders, colored pencils, highlighters, crayons, dry erase markers and personal-sized erase boards.

“We are excited to be able to partner with the volunteers from the Saucon Creek YMCA and Open Link to help get the school year off to a good start for students in our community,” said Simmons. “The public is encouraged to take part in this worthwhile project by purchasing a few supplies and bringing them to one of my district offices in the next few weeks.”

The offices, which are open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., are located at 21 N. Main St., Suite 9, in Coopersburg; 181 Main St., Suite 104, in Emmaus; and on the second floor of the Red Hill Borough Building, 56 W. Fourth St. in Red Hill.

The other school districts for which the supplies are being collected include East Penn, Salisbury Township, Southern Lehigh and Saucon Valley.
