Preliminary Work to Begin for PPL Project, Says Simmons
COOPERSBURG – Rep. Justin Simmons (R-Lehigh/Montgomery/Northampton) is alerting residents who live along the right-of-way of the PPL Electric Utilities Hosensack-Wescosville power line rebuild project that preliminary work is getting underway.

According to the company, residents may notice workers performing surveys or other preliminary studies along the existing power line corridor, including the taking of measurements, soil samples, soil borings or plant samples.

The power line rebuild project is to tentatively begin in May 2018. The work will include replacing the current poles with taller steel poles. The power line runs about 17 miles through the townships of Upper and Lower Macungie, Salisbury, South Whitehall, Upper Saucon, Upper and Lower Milford and the City of Allentown in Lehigh County.

PPL said it has mailed a letter to residents who live along or near the power line regarding the start of the preliminary work.
