Lehigh Valley Diversified Manufacturing Industry Partnership Awarded State Job Training Grant, Says Simmons
HARRISBURG – The Lehigh Valley Diversified Manufacturing Industry Partnership was recently awarded a $200,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, according to Rep. Justin Simmons (R-Lehigh/Montgomery/Northampton).

The funding will go toward training and intermediary services for local companies that participate in the Industry Partnership (IP). The grant will serve 138 participants at a cost of $1,014 each.

“IPs are a great tool for prioritizing state funds where they are critically needed in order to encourage job growth,” said Simmons. “I am pleased our area’s IP was one of this year’s grant recipients.”

IPs are a key innovation for meeting the skills needs of Pennsylvania businesses, the career goals of workers and the economic development goals of the Commonwealth.

A total of 28 IPs statewide were awarded $4,638,772 in funding. The partnerships in turn will train a proposed 5,551 participants in the advanced manufacturing, agriculture and food processing, building and construction, business services, energy, health care, and logistics and transportation industries.
