11/30/2018
HARRISBURG – Two area career and technical schools have been awarded state funding totaling nearly $95,000 for equipment purchases that will enhance their training programs, according to Rep. Justin Simmons (R-Lehigh/Montgomery/Northampton). The grants were made available through the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE).

Lehigh Career and Technical Institute (LCTI) in Schnecksville received $50,000 for its logistic management, consumer sciences, food worker and welding programs.

Western Montgomery Career and Technology Center (WMCTC) in Royersford was awarded $44,750 for its health services, rehab aide, dental assistant, security and cosmetology programs.

“A growing number of young people are choosing alternative educational tracks and receiving the training they need at LCTI and WMCTC,” said Simmons. “This funding will help to ensure they have the skills necessary to secure the jobs of the future, and at the same time, strengthen our area’s economy.”

A total of $1.2 million in competitive grants from PDE was awarded to 38 career and technical centers and area vocational technical education schools across the state.
