Internship & Page Opportunities Capitol Guest Pages Rep. Simmons is currently accepting requests to be a guest page for a day in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Guest pages must be at least 12 years old and have an interest in state government. Guest pages serve on the House floor on session days and for only one day. Only eight guest pages are allowed on the floor each day. Requests to be a guest page are processed as received and should be submitted at least two weeks in advance of the date requested. Guest pages are introduced on the House floor and receive a certificate in recognition of their service. Young people interested in becoming a guest page should either contact my Harrisburg office at (717) 783-1673 or my district office in Coopersburg at (610) 282-3901. Student Internships Internships at Rep. Simmons' district office are available throughout the year. Internships are unpaid and are open to graduating high school seniors and college students who live in the 131st Legislative District. An internship with Rep. Simmons provides students the opportunity to learn more about state government, the legislative process and the responsibilities of a Pennsylvania state representative. Interns can expect to perform a wide variety of duties including: handling constituent issues through phone duties, helping constituents solve cases with state agencies, and attending community and special events. We encourage applicants who are motivated and interested in government and public service. The internship program is designed to provide the knowledge, skills and tools that will assist an intern in all future professional endeavors. To apply, please send a resume to firstname.lastname@example.org. These are rolling internships, so there is no deadline to apply. The internship can qualify as a class credit, if approved by the school.
